When Sia reached out about a headpiece for her coastal wedding in beautiful Devon, I knew we were about to create something truly special. She loved a few of my existing vine designs, so together we combined elements from them to craft a bespoke piece that was entirely her own.

We added delicate touches of pink, blue, and pastel green — soft coastal tones that reflected the lightness of the sea and the romantic feel of her day. The vine’s organic shape and components echoed the lace details of her blush tulle, lace floral appliqué wedding dress, tying everything together effortlessly. We also changed the length and shape to be a little wider on one side then  gently tapering off to tie in with her beautiful boho bridal hair.

To complete the look, I also designed a set of boho floral earrings for her bridesmaids. We incorporated the same blue and pink crystals used in Ria’s headpiece, creating a beautifully cohesive feel across her bridal party. The colours caught the light softly and pulled the whole theme together — elegant, natural, and full of gentle charm.

The result? A perfectly balanced boho-meets-edgy look — relaxed yet refined, whimsical yet elegant. The soft blush tones and subtle colour accents framed Sia’s hair in a way that felt both natural, bridal and utterly unique.

Pearls are associated with purity, grace, and sophistication, making them the perfect choice for bridal jewellery. Incorporating pearls into your bridal look can add a special touch of sophistication and charm. 

Pearls have been treasured throughout history. They have a lustrous, iridescent sheen that reflects light and gives them a soft glow.

I believe pearls have the power to make a bride feel beautiful!

​Quite often,  your wedding will be the first time you have considered wearing pearl jewellery, and there's nothing like tradition that makes us feel the part, Even for a relaxed, stylish or low key wedding, a simple pair of pearl earrings just make a bride feel so very bridal!

What are the different types of pearl?


Natural pearls are formed organically inside oysters or molluscs. The process begins when an irritant, like a grain of sand, enters the shell, prompting the oyster to coat it with layers of nacre, the luminous substance that gives pearls their characteristic lustre. Due to their scarcity, natural pearls are highly prized and often fetch significant prices.

Cultured pearls are created through a controlled process initiated by pearl farmers. A small irritant is introduced into the mollusk, and the resulting pearl is cultivated under carefully monitored conditions. While cultured pearls lack the rarity of their natural counterparts, they are more accessible and have all the beauty of natural pearls.

Freshwater Pearls are found in lakes and rivers, freshwater pearls have gained popularity for their variety of shapes and colours. These pearls are often more affordable than saltwater pearls, making them a popular choice for both classic and contemporary designs.

Faux Pearls  are usually made from plastic or glass and are created to imitate a natural pearl at a ‘more affordable’ price. The advantage of these pearls are their uniformity, as natural and cultural pearls are one of a kind, which can offer a challenge especially when finding a perfect match to make a pair of earrings for example.  However, this can also be a desirable feature of a natural pearl jewellery set, in that it is not 100% identical to the other pearls making them arguably more unique.

What is my favourite?
I use all of the pearls listed above (except natural pearls) in my pieces depending on the design and price point. I am a huge lover of freshwater pearls, they have a lovely weight and lustre and look beautiful for years to come.  I adore all the soft shades particularly the blush, dusky pink and mauve shades that are available. The faux pearls used in my jewellery are all of good quality, they last well and tend not to flake or peel.

In years to come what will people remember about your wedding? Your wedding guests may in time forget what the table decorations were like, what welcome drink awaited them, the extra sweet table that you provided, and even some of the food and drink that they consumed. However, the picture of you as a bride, when you walk down the aisle and throughout the whole wedding day will stay with them always! 

​This is why I truly believe that it's perfectly fine to spend the budget on you, because you (and your partner) are the ones that all your guests will remember for years to come.
Occasionally I meet brides who feel guilty or a little reckless allocating some of their wedding budget on bridal accessories, they feel they should spend it all on their guests. Yet all too often, I see photos of amazing looking brides, the dress is beautiful, the bridal hair and make up wonderful, and the bouquet is gorgeous but then I see a mass produced or poorly made, clunky hair accessory placed in the most beautiful styled hair and my heart sinks.  It just fails to complete the look in a pleasing way and lets down the rest. For me, this is like having the most stunningly decorated Christmas tree and topping it with a naff £1 star from the pound shop! (no offence to the pound shop)

What I'm not saying it has to be expensive to look good, it really doesn't, and you should never stretch beyond where your comfortable. What I'm also not saying is that those other styling or food elements don't add to the day, they really, really do.  What I am saying is don't feel bad about it. It's your wedding and spending money on your bridal look is perfectly okay.
So don’t feel guilty or overthink it.  Honestly, a beautiful wedding headband, bridal comb, hairvine or wedding hair pin will elevate your bridal look and take it to the next level. Not only will you look amazing but it has the ability to make you feel incredibly special and beautiful too. A good bridal hair accessory or wedding jewellery will tie your whole look together and compliment your dress and hairstyle perfectly.  

​Always remember that YOU are the star of every guests wedding photo, so shine brightly and beautifully and enjoy every moment!

Giving your mum a gift that she can wear will always feel more personal than giving her an object she can place in her home. Flowers are always perfect for Mother’s Day, yet a small piece of jewellery alongside her blooms could add that sentiment that lasts a lifetime! 

A pair of earrings, a necklace or a bracelet can be seen as a gift that lasts for many years. Much of the jewellery I create is worn and enjoyed by many Mum’s both old and young.

Special Stories of the gift of jewellery

One of the things I love about my job is hearing all the special stories along the way.  I heard one such story from a Hey Jules customer last week who had been given some pale blue, sea glass earrings to mark the birth of her son. She went on to explain how they have meant so much to her over the last few years and how she now associates all those precious memories of that time with those earrings

​The baroque pearl drop earrings and necklace feature a beautiful irregular shape pearl and are suspended on sterling silver wire pins, or a sterling silver rope chain so they have lovely movement and swing.
​The small teardrop pearls are beautifully shaped pearls on a detailed ball pin for an added touch of luxury.  Both are available as a set or individually, in ivory pearls.

Quite often when I speak to brides they are struggling with 'bridal overwhelm.' You know that feeling where there is so much choice, so many beautiful styles, and you can't decide which one to go for? Have a look at my top 3 questions to ask yourself when choosing your bridal accessories.

1. What is my dress like?

If your dress is simple or lightly embellished then you are free to go for a more statement headpiece. If you dress is more heavily embellished then a more delicate bridal headpiece may help to complement it rather than overshadow it. Having said that, your wedding day is unlike any other day, and many brides choose to go all out on details and sparkle from head to toe! I always recommend taking a major cue from your dress and the overall style of your day.​​

2. What feels most like me?

You want to be best version of yourself on your wedding day. You need to be comfortable, yet feel the most beautiful you have ever felt. I believe there’s an inner princess in all of us, (which doesn’t necessarily mean a ‘princess-style’ wedding!) but being made to ‘feel’ like a princess.
When I took my own journey down the aisle I arrived and stood beside the man who was about to become my husband and he whispered “Buongiorno Principessa” (“Hello my princess”) as seen in one of our favourite films ‘A Beautiful Life’.  I can honestly say I did feel so special on my wedding day, and so me! Whether you opt for something small and delicate or more lavish and statement, be the bride that you want to be.

​3. Should I follow the latest trend?

​There are always trends in bridal. Be inspired by them, but don’t feel you have to go with the latest or most modern look, if you’re more of a classic bride at heart. Some brides feel best in a hair vine, others can’t wait to try on a headband or crown and have pictured themselves in a particular style of bridal headpiece for years. If you're a lover of delicate and intricate detail you may prefer the lighter look of a hair comb or hairpins.
It really is all about you, your style, your wedding, your dress, your bridal headpiece, so wear what makes you feel happy and  beautiful!

I was delighted to meet Kirsty when she popped to see me after her bridal trial with Hannah (Brighteye Beauty) and explained that she wanted a design that would compliment and suit her hair colour and the beautiful textured design that Hannah had created.

We agreed on nothing too heavy looking and thought that the elements and the wire colour in this Miriam hair vine created a beautiful ‘floating’ effect, where all the crystals, pearls and leafy elements looked beautifully positioned.  Kirsty's wedding was by the sea so we decided to pop some Indian Sapphire and denim blue coloured crystals in the centre of the flowers and along the vine to reflect the colours of the sea.

I firmly believe the headpiece should fit the chosen style and be positioned in such a way that makes the bride’s hair and her head piece shine and compliment one another. It’s a beautiful moment when it happens and all fits seamlessly together!

Queen Elizabeth wore her crowns and headpieces with such grace and beauty. It has been hard knowing what to post over the last week since the news of her passing, but I have been captivated by her beauty and her own love of headpieces and jewellery! What better way to finally share this styled shoot as our very own tribute to Her Majesty's style and charisma.

A few months ago the North Devon Wedding Network members gathered at Moreton House in North Devon, a stunning grade-II listed Georgian house. We wanted to create a full glamour, romantic affair in the dream-like surroundings of the ballroom, the dining room, the piano entrance hall and the sweeping staircase.

I created this unique headpiece with opal, blush and soft mint  stones, combined with lots of diamanté and tiny silver seed beads. I wanted to create something grand and structured with some height and plenty of sparkle, but in an elegant way.

Finishing the band by covering with a suitable coloured ribbon helps it to blend in and 'disappear' leaving just the beautiful stones to sparkle and shine. A matching set of jewellery was then created to tie in perfectly with the headpiece.

To be perfectly honest, I don't generally advise wearing a necklace, earrings and bracelet together with a crown headpiece, but on this occasion and for this particular look it worked perfectly! I think keeping the jewellery to classic shapes and well co-ordinated is key to pulling this look off. The jewellery was all made with the same raw materials, the bracelet matched the headpiece, and the earrings and necklace matched leading to an overall cohesive look.

For the evening shots, we literally let the brides hair down creating a more 'relaxed-formal' end to the day. The crown was put safely to one side and the hair adorned with my Angel Pearl and Leaf Pins for a soft romantic touch, with some sparkly stud pearl drop earrings, and a classic graduated pearl bracelet.

On a beautifully bright, crisp morning in February a gorgeous trio of natural beauties ventured out for some bridal fun, accompanied by the talented Hannah Barnes wedding photographer.  With an abundance of luscious green and white bouquets, and the stunning backdrop of Higher Holcombe in Devon, some magic was created that day!
A beautiful simple wedding dress calls for a more elaborate headpiece. The Naomi crown is perfect for a bit of understated drama. It's was paired with freshwater pearl drop and crystal (Evelyn) earrings.

Natural wedding hair allows you to reflect your true inner beauty. The little twist details , were accented by the Leeza comb and pin set with enamel flowers and sparkly leaves. The model's hair colour really shows off the pins  and also reminds us that in keeping things simple, less can definitely be more!

I had the greatest pleasure of working with a fantastic couple last year, Chantal & Nick.They have just celebrated
​their 1st year wedding anniversary so it feels like the perfect time to look back on their special day and see how vibrant and fun they made it.

I first met Chantal when she agreed to model some of my headpieces for my product shoot back in January 2018. She was so warm and friendly and suited so many of my designs, and was such a pleasure to work with.

They both came to see me for stationery and I was delighted when Chantal came to see me once she had found her dress. The dress did not disappointment in any way with it's beautiful beaded details and a stunning soft drape to show off Chantal's perfect figure.

The back of the dress was exquisite too with an open back and a beautiful detailed open lace train.

There were many styles that suited Chantal but with the half up hairstyle we decided to go for something at the back that gently creeped around the sides so could be viewed from lots of angles. I designed a mother of pearl flower vine taking elements from the Adele, Kaylee and Bluebell designs and blending them adding an extra touch of clear crystal sparkle. Chantal chose the Swarovski double drop earrings and a crystal bracelet.

The bright colours really suited Chantal and Nick's personalities and I really thing they pulled it off so well.

I first met Lucy at a wedding show and she promptly booked an appointment to come and visit me at the studio where she tried on a lovely range of blush/rose gold headpieces. She really wanted something along the back and sides to compliment her warm toned dress and her updo hairstyle and veil.

She fell for the Petulia  vine for it's beautiful elements such as freshwater pearls, rose gold leaves and sparkling diamante.

Lucy chose some freshwater pearl earrings Evelyn to match the pearls and crystals in the headpiece itself, and opted for a slightly shorter version of the original piece, the joys of going bespoke!

The wedding took  place over the Easter weekend at the stunning venue Tunnels Beaches and they had the most beautiful sunny weather. I adore the soft pinks in Lucy's bouquet and her bridesmaids dresses.

Lucy's dress from TL Bridal in Axminster is so pretty and the beaded lace details are exquisite.

I always love it when bridal accessories are a well thought out part of the bridal look, it's then that they really make everything even more special and provide a magical finishing touch!

When Emily came to see me she was looking for something to compliment her gorgeous Stephanie Allin wedding gown which has the most beautiful sheer back detail and striking silhouette.
Emily had a relaxed, rustic, fun wedding planned, however being the bride, she also desired something 'extra special' to adorn her hair. At her studio appointment, we tried various styles and decided to opt for a lace comb to tie in to echo the  beautiful delicate details in her dress.  

THE INSPIRATION
A completely bespoke piece was then made, involved stitching two different laces together,  a metallic edged lace from YASMIN, and the lace from the BROOKLYN design,  I then hand embellished the piece with an abundance of Swarovski crystals and pearls.

Whilst most brides want to wear a headpiece many are unsure exactly what to wear in their hair for their wedding day.  I have put together a little guide to try and answer some of the most common questions I get asked about the hairvine.
Will a vine work with an up-do, half up, or down?
Yes, all three! The vine is an extremely versatile piece and suits most hairstyles. I think it works particularly well in a more unstructured style, but I've seen it work with more formal styles and a classic chignon.
How is it fixed into place?
It is simply pinned into place with little bobby pins, through the little loops on the ends.  It can also be tied with ribbon, either hidden or as a part of the feature.
What if I prefer delicate or a smaller piece?
A delicate vine can be simple and subtle and add a wonderful bridal touch. Similarly, a half section or smaller piece worn at the back or side gives a lovely effect.  Many brides opt for a delicate vine and wear it as a statement across the forehead.  A smaller vine is also lovely placed around an up-do.
Could I wear one as a statement piece?
A more detailed vine or one that goes all the way around can look very striking indeed.  Brides often comment on how amazing it makes them feel.  I would always suggest that other accessories are played down if you are planning a statement headpiece, to avoid looking overly-accessorised.

Can I still wear a veil?
Absolutely! Many brides have pulled this look off successfully. Careful placement of the veil can work beautifully with a vine, whether that’s a full detailed one or a smaller pin-in piece.  The beauty of this is that it doesn’t interfere with the veil’s comb positioning which is easily removed after the ceremony.

Will it be 'too much' if I have detailed lace or lots of sparkle on my dress?
Not necessarily.  A petite band of detail can be a really pretty option and helps highlight the beaded or lace detail in a dress.
How do I choose which colour wire to go for?  
It depends if you want it the be part of the feature or not.  The darker wire can blend away into the hair allowing the pearls, crystals or flowers more prominence and a real sense of lightless and scattering, whilst silver, gold or rose gold can add extra sparkle and a branch-like effect to the vine, emphasizing it's organic structure.

Maria wanted a festive touch to her December wedding, so opted for touches of sparkle combined with the smooth, warm toned pearls in this bespoke lace piece. The comb was to be positioned at the back and to pick up the beautifully beaded shoulder details on her dress.

We based the design on the Yasmin Band and swopped some of the details to bespoke options.
Maria opted for a lovely drop earring 'Celestia Pearl', with sparkling hooks, a single Swarovski pearl and a sparkling teardrop. This design will soon be available online.

The Bridesmaids
The bridesmaids wore emerald green with gorgeous fur capes . Maria wanted bespoke hairpins to add a touch of colour. We chose the Honeysuckle Pin  and changed the rose gold to emerald crystals and paired these with the Swarovski Emerald Heart Earrings.

Before we can go any further, there’s one tip that we must impart onto you… buy the wedding dress first! Don’t buy your bridal accessories first and then buy your wedding dress, as chances are - they won’t match.  It’s easier to match wedding accessories to a wedding dress, than it is to match a wedding dress to bridal accessories. The bridal dress will dictate the mood, style, theme and colour of your wedding accessories.

Shoes

No outfit truly is complete without a pair of shoes. The type of wedding shoes you wear is totally dependant on your wedding dress (I will repeat here - buy your wedding dress first before you start hunting for those Cinderella glass slippers!). When it comes to wedding shoes to suit you, they are shoes that not only suit your wedding dress, but shoes that:

  • You can walk in.
  • Are not too high.
  • Are comfortable to wear.
  • Not painful to wear.
  • You can wear again.
  • Are suitable for your wedding venue.

As you can see, unlike wedding dresses that suit you due to your body shape and height, wedding shoes to suit you, come down to mainly one common denominator - their comfort levels, which is different for everyone. A pair of shoes that are so insanely comfy, like walking on a cloud for you, won’t feel like that for everyone. And if a pair of shoes are comfy, you are more likely to feel good. Ultimately, the shoes that suit you, are the ones that make you feel amazing!

Your hair, I’ll rephrase, your wedding hair. Now that’s something almost as important as the dress itself. However, you are styling it for your big day - it certainly needs a beautiful wedding hair accessory to elevate your look. Wedding hair accessories depend on your hair colour, hair type and wedding dress. If you have thin and fine hair, you may want to opt for an accessory to help inject some volume into your ‘do. Equally, if your hair is very fine, you can opt for snap clips that work fantastically in fine hair, or you can have pinned sections of hair, where you can attach vines and headbands, which stay in fine hair extremely well. The most important decision is choosing a hairstylist who specialises in wedding hair, as they will know all the tricks to keep your hair accessory in place.

On the flip side of the coin, if you have a lot of hair, you will want to keep it under control and make sure that your wedding hair accessory is suitable for your ‘do.  An accessory that’s maybe a little larger that won’t get lost in your hair, a hair comb, band or pins will work extremely well for those with thick hair. There’s lots of wedding hair accessories to wear for your wedding day - veils, tiaras, headbands, hair-clips, bridal floral hair pins and designer bridal hair accessories. Shop around and see what you like.

Jules adds that: ‘If you are opting for a statement headpiece, I would always suggest that other accessories are played down, to avoid looking overly-accessorised. Although a beautiful bracelet will always still look good.’

​She also says that: ‘Many brides ask whether they are limited if they are wearing a veil, but I’ve seen many brides pull off this look successfully. Careful placement of the veil can work beautifully with a vine, comb or hairpins, whether that’s a full detailed piece or a smaller pin-in piece. It’s always good to have the hair accessory left in place, once the veil is removed after the ceremony.’

When it comes to your hair colour, we have some tips about which hair accessory shades are best for your hair colour.

Raven Hair: Dark hair suits the ivory shades best and ivory wedding headpieces look stunning on glossy black hair.
Brunette Hair: Silver shades with sparkle look fantastic with brown hair. Research brides with tiaras and diamond bridal headpieces and you’ll see what we mean.
Blonde Hair: Gold tones are always a winner with blonde hair. Depending on the shade of blonde, you can pull off silver tones too.
Red Hair: Warm tones such as the champagne and gold shades look beautiful on ginger, auburn and strawberry blonde hair. Think bridal floral hair pins.

Like your wedding hair, your wedding jewellery is also dependant on a number of factors, such as your skin tone and facial shape. Jewellery can be very versatile and there are a lot to choose from, making it hard to know what is best for you to wear!

Round Faces: This facial shape suits hoops and dangle earrings and necklaces with a pointy pendant, to soften the round facial features.
Oval Shapes: Oval facial shapes luckily suit all kinds of jewellery, especially earrings with angular shapes.
Rectangular Shapes: Rectangular shapes need to avoid elongating their face further through wearing short necklaces such as choker necklaces. Opt for small bridal accessories earrings such as oval shaped earrings and avoid wearing dangle earrings.
Heart Shapes: Those with a heart shaped face need to bring balance by wearing jewellery that gives the impression of a wider jaw line, such as teardrop shaped earrings and beaded necklaces.

Cool Skin Tones: Those with cool undertones suit jewellery such as: diamonds, platinum, white gold, silver and cubic zurconia.
Warm Skin Tones: Those with warm undertones can wear jewellery such as: yellow gold, kundan, copper, golden pearls and jewellery with colours such as yellow, orange, coral, turquoise and olive.

Whilst we have given you a bridal accessories checklist, your bridal accessories should reflect your personality and personal style, which will suit you. If there’s a bridal piece you like and you want to wear it for your wedding - go ahead and wear it!

I first met April, quite some months before her wedding and she kept no secrets about her love of all things sparkly and wanted a pearl, sparkle and lace theme for her Autumn wedding.
She loved the Celestia Hook earrings and chose the Eva bracelet with Swarovski stones and a vintage style clasp.

For her hair, April chose the super sparkly Flourish Dual vine full of Swarovski scattered crystals  and pearls, worn around her loose updo.

I made pretty hair accessories for the bridesmaids and flower girls clips and Petite Tiffany lace embellished combs for the older bridesmaids.
In the evening, April updated her look by removing her dress straps and veil and adding the Diamante Drop Pearl Necklace which completed her look.

I was really pleased with all my choices and I wouldn't change anything about the day. Everything worked so well together and I loved it all.

I met Charlie at Westpoint and she was wanting something to compliment her bridal look. After some discussion and trying a few different options in her hair she opted for a custom hairpin, combining elements from the Hattie Pin (left) and Cherry Blossom pin. (right)
It's wonderful to see how the rose gold wire blends perfectly with her hair and picks up the soft colour of her bridesmaids' dresses.
I adore the pretty detailing layer of this wedding dress, so soft, flowing and pretty, what a truly beautiful bride!

Sharon got in touch with me after seeing my display at The Bride Show, Westpoint. She knew that she wanted a dainty headpiece to pick up some of the detail in her wedding dress, without overwhelming her bridal look as her dress was beautifully  embellished with crystals and pearls along with a detailed belt, so it was important to delicately compliment rather than dominate her look.

I first met Linda last year after she contacted me to design her a bespoke flower headpiece for her wedding. We chatted about some ideas and then she emailed me some pictures of her wedding dress to use as reference, as the plan was to try and incorporate the details from the flower on her waistband  in her headpiece.

I came up with a couple of samples and she popped to the studio to try them in her hair and see which she preferred. Linda's hairstyle is quite short, so I opted to use a little snap clip so that it would grip the hair well, and stay in place throughout the day!
I managed to find some materials in the same shade and then cut, and stitched each petal into place along with some Swarovski crystals and pearls, and a few sprigs of freshwater pearls to add a bit of definition and structure!

Linda had also fallen for the Jess design bracelet and with clear coated crystals and a vintage clasp. She asked for matching earrings and a double strand necklace to complete her bridal look.
I think you'll agree she looked amazing with everything together on her wedding day, and the jewellery gave a beautiful scattered effect mimicking the gypsophila in her bouquet. 
The lovely thing is, I have just finished making her daughter's bespoke accessories for her wedding day later this year, so I got to see them both again.  

​Linda gave me a beautiful gift from her wedding, a lovely hand-decorated vase and pot which I have put to good use in the studio, to hold all my little sprigs and hairpins!
